Robin Carnes

Robin Carnes

Robin Carnes is a watercolorist, graphic designer, and illustrator based in Cincinnati, Ohio and has over 15 years experience working in the design and art field.

She works primarily in watercolors, but dabbles in ink and graphite as well. She's mostly known for her Cincinnati watercolor paintings and illustration work. She finds inspiration just about anywhere, but mainly the city of Cincinnati is all the inspiration she needs.

Her art has been mentioned and promoted by Taft Museum of Art, the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden, and The Mob Museum, among many other institutions. Her work has also been published in Inside Weddings, The Artist’s Magazine, Cincy Magazine, Abservd Magazine and VoyageChicago.




Mike Daikubara

Mike Daikubara is an artist, designer and author, having published over 9 books on Urban sketching, AKA sketching on-location from direct observation. 2 of these are instructional books sharing his experience and joys of sketching titled  “Sketch NOW Think Later” and “Color First Ink Later” He first began carrying a sketchbook in 2000 to be able to communicate better and faster at his design day job. Now he sketches daily to see, understand and enjoy! A Japanese-American, Mike grew up in Tokyo and New York City attending an International school with kids from all over the world. 
 
He is an Industrial Designer with over 25 years of experience working in various industries such as Cosmetics, Consumer Electronics, Bath/Kitchen Products, Medical, Juvenile industry and Major Appliances for the home.
 
He currently lives in Charlotte North Carolina with his wife Kana and 2 Bengal cats, Tenten and Totora.

 




Kay Bea Jones is a professor of architecture at the Knowlton School. She came to Ohio State after working in Florence and Rome, Italy. Her research on modern Italian architecture has resulted in the authorship of two books. She has returned to Italy for the past 35 years with OSU architecture and design students as well as patrons of the Columbus Museum of Art with sketching in situ as the prime objective. She will be exhibiting her watercolors at the Ohio State Faculty Club in 2023.
 



David Rankin
David Rankin is a professional watercolor artist, author, instructor, and lecturer. He is a distinguished signature member of the Society of Animal Artists and has served on its Board since 1990. In addition, he is a signature member of the Ohio Watercolor Society and Artists for Conservation. His book, “Fast Sketching Techniques,”  was published by North Light Books in the U.S. and reprinted in Russia. His award-winning watercolors are in public and private art collections in the U.S. and Asia, have been featured in more than 150 museum exhibitions, are included in the North Light’s series, Splash: The Best of Watercolor, and Strokes of Genius: The Best of Drawing, and in numerous art magazines. In his paintings and sketches, David hopes viewers experience some of what inspires him in his direct observations of Nature. 
He is a graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Art and lives in Cleveland, Ohio, with his wife, Deanna.



Jeff Stahler

Jeff Stahler is a graduate of the Columbus College of Art & Design, Columbus, Ohio. He is a resident of Aurora, Colorado. Jeff served as editorial cartoonist with the Columbus Citizen-Journal (1984-85), The Cincinnati Post (1985-2005), the Columbus Dispatch (2005-2011) and is currently syndicated with Andrews McMeel Syndication. He is the creator of the nationally syndicated comic panel, ‘Moderately Confused’ since 2003. Jeff is an avid plein air watercolor artist and spends a few days a week traveling and painting. He especially enjoys painting with other artists with the same interests. He has taught watercolor classes and led watercolor workshops. His goal is always to make watercolor a very enjoyable medium.




Jeff Suntala
Jeff is a lifelong Cleveland area illustrator/watercolorist who became consumed with all things digital once it became practical for creating art. He soon realized that while it was a great way to make a living, it wasn’t nearly as fulfilling as creating actual physical art. A member of the Ohio Watercolor Society, the last several years have found him concentrating on urban plein air painting of Cleveland. His watercolors can be found at 
suntalawatercolors.com and illustration work at suntala.com. Hes participated in the Cleveland Urban Sketchers group since its inception.


Christina Wald
Christina Wald is an illustrator and designer. She has illustrated over 60 picture books. Her latest books, Sloth’s Treehouse Inn for San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance Press, Return to Kew Gardens for Phinda Publishing (an exclusive for Kew Gardens in London), and  The Train Rolls On to the North Pole came out last fall and Hadori Stands Up comes out this summer.

She started the Cincinnati Urban Sketchers Chapter and is the social media coordinator for the international Urban Sketchers non-profit. She also teaches illustration and narrative storytelling at Northern Kentucky University.
