Join us in continuing the tradition of making by hand—and leave with a sketchbook that is truly your own. For the first time at the Ohio Regional Urban Sketchers Summit, we are pleased to offer a hands-on bookbinding workshop designed for artists who value both craft and creativity.
This optional afternoon session will take place indoors at CIA during the same time as the sketch walks. It offers a thoughtful alternative for those who prefer to spend a few hours away from the summer sun and focus on a hands-on creative project.
Workshop Description: You will learn the saddle stitch (pamphlet stitch), a traditional bookbinding technique that uses a central stitch along the folded spine of paper signatures. This approach is ideal for creating sketchbooks, journals, and small zines that are both practical and personal.
Guided step by step, you will create your own small-format sketchbook using mixed media paper, ready for drawing and creative exploration.
Registration:
- Participation in this workshop is on a first-come, first-served basis and limited to 13 attendees.
- Sign up for this workshop in person on the morning of the Summit. You cannot register for this workshop on Eventbrite.
- Cost: $10.00 (cash) materials fee is due at sign-up. The instructor will provide all materials plus printed reference guides.
